Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Bullying, characterized by the intention to harm and humiliate, encompasses a range of behaviors including physical attacks, verbal abuse, spreading rumors, obscene gestures, and social exclusion. It involves two main figures: the "perpetrator" and the "victim." These experiences can directly affect social relationships and body image, particularly within the school context. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to analyze the existing literature on bullying as an influential factor in shaping body image within the context of physical education in schools. METHOD: For this review, 39 articles from 2017 to 2023 were selected from the databases Pubmed, Google Scholar, Lilacs, and Periódicos Capes. The keywords used were: Body Image, Ideal Body, Bullying, School, and Adolescents. After applying the inclusion criteria, 6 articles focused on the desired topic remained. RESULTS: The analysis of the studies reveals that bullying is linked to sociodemographic factors, gender, exposure to risks, and health protection factors. Therefore, it is crucial for interventions to be sensitive to gender disparities, addressing not only the physical dimension but also the emotional and social elements contributing to bullying victimization. Additionally, the results highlight the urgent need to promote a safe and inclusive school environment, even in the context of distance learning. CONCLUSION: Bullying is not limited to issues of weight or body image; its connections with other aspects of the school and social dynamics must be recognized. Consequently, it is essential that educational actions aimed at preventing bullying be integrated consistently and systematically within the school environment.
